Donate clothing
Clothing is a basic human right but, in reality, one that not all have equal access to. For those experiencing homelessness to any degree, clean clothing reduces social stigma and provides opportunities for employment and housing. For individuals and families living paycheck to paycheck, finding the funds for adequate and appropriate clothing is not always possible.
Please consider the dignity of those you are donating to. We would never provide clothing to others that we would not wear ourselves. We accept adult and children’s clothing. Please review the following guidelines prior to arranging a drop-off appointment. All clothing must be freshly laundered.
Items we accept
- In addition to clothing, we accept shoes, bags and accessories such as hats, belts et cetera
- Minor defects like broken zippers, missing buttons and torn seams are fine; we repair these
- Shoes must have their laces
- Donations must be counted before dropping off or sending. Please note your garment count either on the outside of your bag paper, if paper or on a note inside
Items we do not accept
- Clothing with permanent stains
- Bedding such as pillows, duvet covers, sheets, tablecloths, et cetera
- Costumes or fancy dress items
- Onesies
- Dressing gowns
- Used underwear, socks or swimwear. Unworn garments, new with tags, are accepted
- Costume jewellery
- Sunglasses (unless new)
- Fabric scraps

To arrange a drop-off at our store in Eden Terrace please send an email to hello@commonequal.com.
To help cover the costs associated with keeping clothing in circulation and recycling those items we cannot, we kindly request a $10 donation for drop-off volumes about the size of a reusable supermarket tote.
As a registered charity, all donations over $5 are tax-deductible.
If you are donating as an individual, you can claim donation tax credits. See tax credits for donations (external link) — Inland Revenue
